Better than Chevalier-Montrachet, Leflaive Batard-Montrachet from only HK$7,800 per bottle
Mar 11, 2026
One of our constant favourites of Chardonnay producers from Burgundy and for many others around the world too, Domaine Leflaive has been an eminent winemaker in the world of wines which has been continuously producing astounding Chardonnay from Puligny-Montrachet for many decades. Madame Anne-Claude Leflaive built a strong reputation for the label under her careful and special attention in the vineyard, making some of the most fruit-forward and terroir-expressive wines that are worthy to be added to every wine collector's cellar since taking over from her father in 1994. Sadly Anne-Claude passed away in 2015 and Brice de La Morandière, Anne-Claude's nephew and great grandson of Joseph Leflaive the founder, has taken over carrying on with the same family philosophy of respect for the great ''terroirs'', humility towards the forces of nature and rigorous in it's relentless pursuit of excellence in wine making.
Under the care from Anne-Claude Leflaive, Leflaive had a successful vintage in 2009 and Batard-Montrachet is the most outstanding Grand Cru. It received higher scores than Chevalier-Montrachet and we beliebe the quality is very close to the legendary Le Montrachet which scored 94-97pts from Allen Meadows. We are delighted to offer 12 bottles which were purchased from Corney & Barrow and stored in UK bonded warehouse ever since -

95pts Allen Meadows
An expressive and actually quite elegant nose features lemon rind, spiced pear, white peach and plenty of dried floral influences. The supple, round and imposingly scaled big-bodied flavors are impressively concentrated and while quite powerful, they are also quite seductively textured before culminating in an explosive yet impeccably well-balanced finish. As is usually the case, this is a big wine but it retains a certain refinement that, in the same vein as the Bienvenues, is not exactly expected in a bold and exceptionally rich vintage like 2009.
96pts Antonio Galloni
The 2009 Batard-Montrachet positively explodes from the glass. Round, sweet and expressive, the wine saturates the palate with masses of fruit in a bold, powerful style that is utterly irresistible. The finish is intense and resonant in all directions. Remy notes that the Batard is the only 2009 above 14% in alcohol.
