Unlike many winemakers who have a family history in winemaking, Frederic Cossard's family was in the dairy industry. He was destined to take on his father's dairy company but his passion for wine led him to purchase his own domaine in 1996 after working a decade in the wine trade business, and start producing his own wine. A natural wine genius, with approximately 10 hectares of vines across several appellations, Frederic has been creating inspiring work in Burgundy ever since. He has worked organically from the outset - using natural measures without any sulfur dioxide and natural fermentation with long maceration, and has produced wines with unique styles with fair approachable prices and often praised to be elegant and expressive. Aside from producing wines from his own vineyards, he also acts as a negociant, giving him access to some of the greatest vineyards in Burgundy. His wines are divided into two lines - higher-end wines are labeled under "Frederic Cossard" whilst the others are under "Domaine de Chassorney".

It’s arguabley the best village terroir in Vosne-Romanee as it situated directly above two Grand Crus, La Tache and La Grande Rue, also neighbour the famous Aux Reignots 1er Cru with just a few metres away.
