Laurent Ponsot led the domaine to develop a remarkably unique style, giving them the distinctiveness among other top producers in Gevrey-Chambertin and their wines are brilliant from Grand Crus down to the Villages. With an average age of their vines being 50 years old combined with Laurent's expertise, Domaine Ponsot's wines are concentrated, powerful with hints of rich, exotic and spicy notes.

Reduction renders the nose impossible to read. There is by contrast super richness and a lovely minerality to the vibrant and tension-filled medium-bodied flavors that enjoy very ripe tannins that add to the moderate sense of austerity on the impressive long finish. In contrast to the Griotte this is not likely to be nearly as accessible young.

Crimson. Very sappy and savory – no extra sweetness here. Just concentration but juice and lift too. Quite a bit of acidity. Freshness and precision. Slight bitterness on the end. Very long.
