Domaine Ponsot is one of the producers we always keep at the top of our list. Their wines have never failed to impress us, plus their continuous efforts in developing innovations in bottling and packaging to maintain the conditions of their wines and protect themselves from counterfeit wines, such as their provenance tracker, thermo indicator and "the ideal cork", have made us even more impressed with the Domaine over the years. Laurent Ponsot, the 4th generation at Domaine Ponsot, has continued to lead the Domaine to produce brilliant wines from village to Grand Cru wines, and has developed a remarkable, unique style that clearly differentiates itself from other top producers in Gevrey-Chambertin. After his departure, the domaine is still run by the family and produces extraordinary reds and whites year after year.
Domaine Ponsot produces a white wine in Morey-St-Denis Clos des Monts Luisants 1er Cru. The family owns very old vines of Aligote and Chardonnay grapes in this plot, and it is until 2005 that Laurent Ponsot produces a 100% aligoté from this 1er cru plot after 1964 who wants to pay tribute to William. We are delighted to offer a parcel of Vintage 1999 Ponsot Morey-St-Denis Clos des Monts Luisants 1er Cru, sourced direct from a merchant in Burgundy, a blend of 20% Chardonnay and 80% Aligote to show its unique character from Morey-St-Denis:
