Madame Lalou-bize Leroy is the producer of Domaine and Maison Leroy and has been the top figure in Burgundy for many, many years. She has been producing wines from almost every appellation in Cote d'Or, making her one of the most experienced winemakers in the region. Wine Critics have not been shy to confirm her status in the region - Robert Parker said she “stands virtually alone at the top of Burgundy’s quality hierarchy”, while Clive Coates MW commented that Leroy is "the greatest estate in Burgundy". 
 
Under Madame Lalou-bize Leroy's perfectionist approach to the vineyard as well as the estate, there is no doubt that remarkable quality of the wines are produced from both Leroy's owned vineyards (labelled "Domaine Leroy") and sourced grapes (labelled "Maison Leroy"). While they produce both reds and whites, the Domaine-produced whites only appear under d'Auvenay or only for their Aligote. Other whites are produced under Maison Leroy but are just as good as their Domaine wines as Madame Leroy only chooses the best vineyards and grapes in disregard of cost. For the Maison label, Madame Lalou-Bize Leroy does tastings of hundreds of wines annually to select the very top wines and has not gone into any agreements to buy only from specific growers in order to ensure she has the flexibility to truly pick only the very best without limits. Once she has selected these wines, she ages them at her Domaine and releases them when they are ready to drink.
