New Purchases of Lucien Le Moine including Chevalier Montrachet and Batard Montrachet
Only established a little over two decades ago in 1999, Lucien Le Moine is relatively new negociant house in Burgundy but has made its mark quickly with the amazing work by owners Mounir and Rotem Saouma who have had extensive work experiences and studies in the field. Mounir worked in the monastery vineyards in the Middle East in the late 1980s and was where he first learned to make wine. He subsequently studied Viticulture and Oenology in Montpellier, followed by six years of working in Burgundy, other areas of France, and also in California, USA. His wife, Rotem, on the other hand, comes from a cheese-making family and studied agriculture in Dijon and eventually oriented her studies towards wine and even won a national prize for her study of the Cote d'Or from the French Academy of Agriculture. Mounir and Rotem's experiences and knowledge combined is a simple formula for success in Burgundy but does not go without much hard work.
Lucien Le Moine only source their grapes from 1er Cru and Grand Cru plots, and do everything by hand. The winemaking philosophy is to produce wines of exceptional purity, and they do just that - their wines are excellent and focused and reflect the unique terroir from which each came. They gained a reputation for crafting some of "Burgundy's most perfumed and downright sexy wines" in the words of Josh Reynolds. As they only source from 1er and Grand Cru, Lucien Le Moine’s Bourgogne are always a great steal for drinkers who look for casual but exceptional drops in the bottle. They blend all the declassified grapes from 1er Cru and Grand Cru to make a big and complex red and white Bourgogne, and the whites are always a remarkable bottle to be remembered.
We are pleased to offer the following list of Lucien Le Moine between 2000 to 2018, including some rare Grand Cru from Batard Montrachet and Chevalier Montrachet, many of these bottles are stepping into prime and enjoyable now –
