The Royal Tokaji Winery was established in 1989 in the Tokaji region, a joint venture led by Istvan Szepsy with another 63 growers in Tokaji. In the past thirty years, the Royal Tokaji Winery has done fantastic work in retaining the qualities of the wines from the unique grape in Hungary- Aszú. And also started to experiment with single vineyard cuvee which is new to the region in the 1980s.

Most of the practices remain traditional, the Royal Tokaji Winery ferments the wines in their cool and deep underground cellar for a very long period of time, aged for a minimum three years to achieve the highest standard of Tokaji. The best wines are segregated and bottled by vineyards including Szt. Tamas Betsek, Nyulaszo and Birsalmas which are regarded as the “First Growth” among all Tokaji.
