Philippe Colin established his domaine in 2004, making both red and white Burgundy of around 20-25 different wines. His vineyards cover a total of 13 hectares in which 9 hectares were inherited from his parents' estate, Colin-Deleger, when they retired. Among his vineyards, there are two-thirds white and the remaining red, which are premier crus and villages spread across Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet, St-Aubin, Maranges and Santenay; and also a grand cru - Chevalier-Montrachet - which is just a bit up the slope in Puligny-Montrachet with a large part being planted in 1978, and the rest in 1955. He has a strong emphasis on terroir and strongly believes good wine comes from good grapes. The wine produced are more focused on achieving elegance and subtlety rather than weight and power.

This is aromatically similar to the Bourgogne though the resin component isn't quite as pronounced. The sleeker and finer but actually somewhat less concentrated medium-bodied flavors possess a more refined texture on the saline-suffused, complex and lingering finish. This too is really quite good though perhaps not quite as outstanding in its category as the Bourgogne. Even so, it is also worth checking out.
