The Gros family has been making excellent wine in Burgundy since the early 1800s when Alphonse Gros married Madame Latour and acquired their first parcels of vines in Vosne-Romanee. The Domaine was divided as it was passed down from generation to generation thus making the Domaine names as complicated as it gets for a family with such a long history in the region. To make it simple, there are essentially four separate Gros Domaines, all related to each other: Gros Frère et Sœur, Anne Gros, Anne-Francoise Gros (aka A.F. Gros) and Michel Gros. While they come from the same family, they are all industrious viticulturalists who adhere to their own philosophies in winemaking.
Michel Gros is the oldest brother of the 6th generation of the Gros family, and first established his domaine in 1978 while working at his father’s estate, and inherited 2 hectares of vineyards in Hautes-Côtes de Nuit appellation. When Jean Gros retired in 1995, he divided his estate and gifted Michel with more plots including Vosne-Romanee Clos des Reas Monopole 1er Cru, Nuits-Saint-Georges Chaliots and Bourgogne, thus Michel Gros now owns a total of 23 hectares. Michel has successfully developed a generous, fine and elegant style, with even quality, showing the concentrated red fruit and characteristics of each plot.

The selection includes his villages from Vosne-Romanee and Nuits-St-Georges, and Premier Cru wines Vosne-Romanee Aux Brulees and Clos de Reas Monopole, and last but not least, a Bourgogne Hautes Cotes de Nuits, all from vintages between 2014 and 2018.
