The history of the Henri Mandois champagne house dates back to 1735 when the family acquired some prestigious vineyards in Pierry, a suburb of Epernay. It wasn't until 1860 that the founder's great-grandson, Victor Mandois, decided to vinify and sell the wines, and in 1960, Henri Mandois made the family brand into an international success.

Situated in Pierry, a suburb in Epernay, they own 35 hectares of vineyard which include those on the slopes of Epernay, the Côte des Blancs, together with the region around Sézanne constitute the major part of its vineyards spread amongst 12 different villages. Grapes come from famous villages and prestigious terroirs such as Chouilly, Vertus, Pierry and Epernay; and is made up of 70% Chardonnay, 15% Pinot Meunier and 15% Pinot Noir. They are pioneers and the only champagne house to plough the soil in every other row of vines which lead to deeper rooting of the vines and allow a natural expression of the terroir. Vineyards in a perfect location, grapes produced with the greatest of care, meticulous blending work and prolonged ageing are the foundations of their winemaking philosophy.

Today we are pleased to re-offer their Cuvee Victor 2008 which is a blanc de blancs (100% Chardonnay) and made from grapes from vines of over 50 years of age in Chouilly and Vertus. These old vines provide the structure and balance between concentration and finesse essential to the creation of a fine Champagne; and in order to develop smoothness and complexity, a proportion of the harvest is vinified in oak barrels in the traditional method used by Victor Mandois over a century ago and aged for 7 years. The resulting Champagne is delicate on the nose and shows a creaminess on the palate created by its very fine bubbles, with perfect harmony and long-lasting flavours.
