The grandson and son of admired Chablis producers, Vincent Dampt is one of the rising stars of Chablis. He enrolled himself into wine school in Beaune when he was just 14 years old, and trained in the Jura and with Leflaive in Puligny–Montrachet before heading overseas to New Zealand’s Marlborough region. Then in 2002, he began working with his father and in 2004, inherited a few small plots of vineyards which enabled him to create his own estate. The vines were 40 years old on average and thus naturally low on yield. In order to preserve every bit of the classic Chablis cut and minerality, Vincent vinifies most of his wines in tanks. Determined to make a name for himself, despite appearing to be mild-mannered, he is extremely passionate about wine and the Chablis terroir, and open to new ideas to achieve quality productions.
