"Sweet Spot Outstanding" Bruno Clavelier Chambolle-Musigny La Combe d'Orveaux 1er Cru 2018

"La Combe d'Orveau" is one of the hidden gems in Chambolle-Musigny that is often overlooked because people misunderstand that it is a village while this terroir is actually split into two major parcels - one which is located at the lower slope and is classified as 1er Cru and Grand Cru; while the other on the west side is classified as "village". The plot which borders “Les Petits Musigny" (Musigny Grand Cru) has a lot of potential to reach Grand Cru status; and interestingly, some plots in La Combe d’Orveau had been promoted from 1er Cru to Grand Cru “Le Musigny” twice - once in in 1929 and another time in 1989. Due to the proximity to Le Musigny, there are plenty of stunning wines from La Combe d'Orveau which possess similar characteristics to that of their neighbour Le Musigny, one of which we suggest would be Bruno Clavelier’s Chambolle-Musigny La Combe d’Orveau and we recommend you to try.

A non-intervention winemaker who took over the domaine in late 1980s, Bruno Clavelier is now working attentively with biodynamic practices. He owns an excellent plot in Chambolle-Musigny La Combe d’Orveau which sits directly above Musigny, with vines over 20 to 65 years of age. Steen Ohman from Winehog had praised Bruno to be "a friendly, extremely dedicated man whose perfectionist approach to winemaking and understanding of terroir are impressive."  Today, we are pleased to offer a small parcel of his Chambolle-Musigny La Combe d’Orveau 2018, arriving in 3-4 weeks. The vintage 2018 was a pleasant vintage in which Bruno himself called it a "potentially great vintage because the wines retain very good balance despite the exceptionally hot and dry growing season.” Don't miss –

HK$1,550 per bottle

18 bottles available, ETA 3-4 weeks

91-94pts Allen Meadows “Sweet Spot Outstanding”

An admirably discreet dollop of wood is present on the notably spicy and floral-infused aromas of high-toned red currant, cherry and exotic tea. There is less volume but notably more refinement to the finely detailed flavors that brim with minerality on the impressively long, complex and balanced finale. This is first-rate and should age well.

Subject to final confirmation.
