It’s been a lively week with fresh shipments rolling in from Europe! Always a thrill to unpack new treasures, and one standout is Henri Goutorbe’s 1992 Collection René — a beautiful Champagne with a truly distinctive bottle design that turns every pour into a celebration.
 
Champagne Henri Goutorbe’s 1992 Collection René is the rare unveiling of a family legacy in Aÿ Grand Cru, patiently matured in the estate’s own cellars until it reached a higher expression of harmony and depth. Conceived as the pinnacle of the domaine, it is crafted from Aÿ Grand Cru vineyards with Pinot Noir at the core and Chardonnay in support, vinified and aged with the singular aim of revealing the character of one village, one year and one family’s vision across time.
 
After bottling, it was laid sur pointe in the cool, chalk cellars beneath Aÿ and left undisturbed for decades, in continuous dialogue with its lees, before a deliberately late disgorgement for this ex‑cellar release. This extended maturation, entirely under the guardianship of the Goutorbe family, elevates the wine to a second life in bottle, offering today not a relic of the past but a perfectly timed emergence, with provenance, ageing and release all orchestrated from harvest to final shipment by the same hands that brought it into being.
