The estate has holdings that came from his maternal grandfather Merme which explains the similarity of their holdings with Domaine Taupenot-Merme, and also from an acquisition of Domaine Pernin-Rossin in 2000. There's increasing popularity for large format bottles nowadays and have become less exclusive especially when it comes to magnum 1.5L bottles. The ageing potential of the wines are better in these large bottles because they are made with thicker, heavier glass that protects them from heat, light, and travel-related vibrations - all which are detrimental to the conditions of the wine - and allows them to age just more gracefully as the process is slower with the larger volume to surface area (the cork).
